WE NEED LETTERS THIS WEEK - AS MANY AS WE CAN GET -

 

Our industry has major issues currently being considered by Governor Rick Scott as he decides to veto or not veto various bills from the legislature. For HME, we want one item vetoed.

 

Single Source for Incontinence Supplies

In the final State Appropriations Bill (the state budget) a provision was added to create a single source provider for all incontinence supplies statewide. The language calls for an immediate RFP to pick one company to issue all incontinence supplies starting within a year, while saving 20%. Aside from being impossible to achieve without the complete elimination of all service and all product choice, the provision will close companies and cost jobs while harming patients.  There are many lobbyists working to eliminate this language, but what they lack is the grassroots network of companies demanding the Governor take a stance. We can provide volume from our out reach.

 

Calling will only irritate and emails might clog up the system, but letters and cards are civil and the effort to write is appreciated. We need letters from business owners, providers, patients and doctors, and case managers and their clients. 

 

 

We need Letters from you asking the Governor to veto this language, which has no place in health care and no place in managed care. We at FAHCS need those letters, now.

 

 

This provision will affect incontinence patients and waiver patients and as drafted it will require all HMO's and PSN's to contract with the one winning company for incontinent supplies when and if they take over managed care. It is so singularly written that it will affect thousands across Florida, in a negative way. Our industry will lose jobs statewide, small business will close and patients will be harmed.

 

We need you to explain and expand on that truth in letters.

To be a force in politics, it is incumbent upon every provider in the state of Florida, every manufacturer, every doctor and patient to contact the Governor's office to advance their opinion.  

 

This is the Governor's first chance to veto items. No one knows what will motivate him to use his line item veto power, but we do know that, so far, he has always stood up for JOBs JOBs JOBs and in state businesses verse those from out of state. We need to emphasize the jobs issue.

 

 

Please forward this email to your manufacturers, doctor's, patients, care givers, employees and family members. We need letters from all of them, ASAP. When we collect them we will present them to the Governor.
